Books…Courses…Sermons

I’ve written or helped write several books, and I’ve also recorded three courses on the book of Daniel (I’m kind of a one-trick pony…). I also teach Bible courses online through The Pilgrimage. On occasion I am asked to fill a pulpit, and most often I preach from the Psalms of Ascents (Pss 120-134); some of these sermons are available online.

The summary is immediately below, and then the full listing is at the end.

Living Whole Without a Better Half is the first, written preseminary. The process of writing it was, in fact, what prompted me to go to seminary. The second, A Match Made in Heaven: How Singles and the Church Can Live Happily Ever After, grew out of the convergence of what I was learning in seminary classes and what I was experiencing in a family-focused church. The third book is different altogether – The Forest and the Trees: Helping Teachers Integrate a Biblical Worldview across the Curriculum  was a joint effort with my dad; it was written to be a readable resource for parents or teachers who want to help their kids see God and His truth in every aspect of life. My fourth book is only available electronically, and it’s a resurrected version of my Master’s thesis on Augustine and Luther: Augustine versus Luther on Sin, Sexuality, and Salvation.

For the first several years of this blog, I wrote about the book of Daniel–and that was because I was working on my first commentary for Zondervan. The commentary is now available, and I promise it goes all the way through the book–unlike this blog, which got mired down in life changes somewhere around chapter 7. There is also a course on Daniel (based on the commentary) available online and for purchase. My second Zondervan commentary on Daniel will be released in 2021, and you will find it in this series.  Additionally, I’ve recorded a course on the book of Daniel (not based on my commentary) with Biblical eLearning, which is free online.

My slightly revamped PhD dissertation has been published by DeGruyter (“To Teach” in Ancient Israel), and if you have $100 to spare, an interest in cognitive linguistics, and some knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, it’s worth your investment. If not… 😉

Finally, there are several books and other materials (including yet one more course on Daniel) that I helped create when I was employed by Logos Bible Software (now Faithlife Corporation). You can find those books here.
